Graduate Certificates

In Digital Forensics or Cyber Security

The Graduate Certificate is a University issued certificate that is geared towards working professionals who currently have a four-year undergraduate degree, but are not interested in pursuing a full Masters degree at this time. This allows students to complete an approved course track in a specific area, at the graduate level, without taking on the additional work required for a full Masters degree. While the Graduate Certificate does not require a capstone project, such as a thesis, the individual courses in the Graduate Certificate Program do require students to complete graduate-level research projects.

For the Graduate Certificate Programs, a grade of C+ or lower in courses numbered at the 400 level is considered a failing grade, and the course must be repeated. When students receive more than one grade of C+ or lower in courses at the 400 level, their graduate status is subject to review by the program chairperson. A grade of C- or lower in courses numbered at the 500 level is considered a failing grade, and the course must be repeated. When students receive any one grade of C- or lower in courses at the 500 level, their graduate status is subject to review by the program chairperson. To qualify for continuation in the degree program and for graduation, a cumulative average of B in all work is required. At any time when the academic record indicates unsatisfactory performance, the student's status is subject to review. A student who fails to maintain a satisfactory quality point average or to make acceptable progress toward the degree may be dismissed as a graduate student.

All of the credits required for the Graduate Certificate must be completed at the University of Rhode Island. Students must complete the Graduate Certificate program within 4 years.
